Mikayla's 7th Birthday Party

Today we had a birthday party for Mikayla. The theme for this party was "ladybugs".
I was trying to get a picture of just Mikayla, but some of her friends wanted to join in too. So I wasn't successful with that.

We started off the party with eating pizza and Capri Suns.
Once again, John, my mom and myself were amazed at how much girls can eat. John only got to eat the crust left from Ashlee's pizza and I got one slice.

The first game we played was pin the spot on the ladybug. The girls had a lot of fun with this game.

Next we played Ladybug Landing. It was like muscial chairs, except the girls were flying ladybugs and they had to land on a leaf when the music stopped. At the end they all landed on a leaf, each leaf had a number and they got a prize with their number on it. Unfortunately we didn't get any pictures of that game.

Next the girls divided up into teams for a scavenger hunt. They had 10 minutes to find items on their list. The team with the most items won. Needless to say. Both teams found all the items so they all received a ring pop.

Instead of cake we had Ladybug Cupcakes. I was disappointed that they didn't turn out as cute as the picture. I guess I am not a cake decorator. The girls didn't seem to mind. They thought they were cute and asked for seconds.

Front row: Brooke, Emma, Mikayla, Allison

The party ended with an easter egg hunt, since tomorrow is Easter. The girls all had fun and Mikayla enjoyed her party. Maybe one of these years the weather will cooperate and we can have a party outdoors instead of in the garage. It was so cold today. The girls were shivering and asking to go inside because it was so cold. But in spite of the cold weather we all had fun. Happy Birthday Mikayla. We are proud of who you are and what you have accomplished.

Mikayla's Birthday, Spring Fling, Swimming

Today Mikayla turned 7 years old. It's hard to believe that she is already 7. We got up bright and early so that we could go pick up donuts to share with her class this morning.

Today was also the last day of school before Spring Break. In the afternoon they had a Spring Fling. They got to do several crafts and activities such as:
Rainbow Foot Prints

Making dirt cups (chocolate pudding, oreo cookies and gummy worms).

They also had graham crackers with pastel colored frosting. Mikayla somehow got frosting in her hearing aid in this picture and is trying to get it out.

The girls also started their first day of swimming for the Ceres Dolphins Swim Team today. Unfortunately it was about 60 degrees with about 10mph winds on top of it. It was freezing. John and I where shivering watching them. Luckily the pool was heated. They didn't seem to mind. Mikayla loves it. Ashlee is trying to get use to it. Friday's practice went much better for her so hopefully she will stick with it and not give up. It' s going to be a long next four months though, with practice 5 days a week and swim meets every Saturday.
Mikayla is the one in the green hat.

San Jose-Tech Musuem

Today I went to the San Jose Tech Musuem with Ashlee's class. We got to see a movie in an IMAX theater. The experience was neat, yet nauseating at the same time. For some reason the feel of the screen all around you makes you feel kind of sick. We also got to go on an earthquake simulator. Ashlee's class got to build a roller coaster model and learn all about slope, velocity, etc.

Columbia/This Week

We had the quite the week. Not to mention, quite a year so far. I have been sick for a little over a week. Spent all of last weekend practically in bed. Monday night Ashlee was up all night with a bad sore throat and headache. Tuesday we found out she had strep throat. Wednesday morning she woke up with a rash. I had to take her back to the doctor. The doctor suspected an allergic reaction to the antibiotic so they had to change the antibiotic. While I am at the doctor with her on Wedensday, some lady tries to park in the spot next to me and hits my car. Luckily the manager of the pediatricians office saw her do it, and helped me locate the lady and translate for me. Otherwise, the lady probably wouldn't have said anything. Wednesday I was finally able to get into the doctor as well. Apparently I have "chronic sinusitis(aka a sinus infection), requiring two rounds of antibiotic to clear it up. Glad I finally went in. I thought I had a virus since there seems to be so much going around right now. Thursday morning John and I decided that it was time to get away for the weekend. So we loaded up the trailer. Friday afternoon when John got off work we headed to Columbia to go camping. We had not been camping since August. So we were all ready to get away. It was a nice weekend. Great weather. Nice to get away for awhile.

Mikayla kept finding ladybugs. This is the first one she found. She kept playing with it. She didn't want to let it go. She decided a few weeks ago that the theme for her birthday party this year is going to be ladybugs as well.
One of the stores in Columbia had these masks so John and Mikayla decided to try them on.

Ashlee and Mikayla on the rocks.

Mikayla, John and Ashlee on a stagecoach.
It was a short, but sweet weekend get away. As always, no one wanted to come home.

Talent Show

Camryn, Aubrie, Jadyn and Ashlee decided a while back that they wanted to try out for the school's talent show. They had been working on a dance routine to Miley Cyrus's song "The Hoe Down Throw Down." First they had to auditon for the talent show. There were over 50 auditions and the top 25 where picked to participate in the show. Ashlee and her group of friends made it through the auditions and where invited to compete in the Talent Show that took place today. The Talent Show at Whitmore is a huge deal. Many parents and grandparents come to watch it. This year they decided to do two performances so that they could accomodate everyone that comes to watch it. It was a success. The girls did great. All their hard work, time and effort for the last month paid off. They had a great time.

Solar System

Ashlee had to do a 3D Solar System project for science. Here is what she made (this is our second attempt. She gave the first one to a friend to finish). She also has to give a presentation along with it to her class. After all the time, money, stress and effort that went into this. I hope she gets a good grade.

Dr. Seuss Week

Mikayla and Allison on Twin Day. They often get mistaken for each other when it's not twin day. So it was fitting that they be twins for the day.

Mikayla on Mix and Match your clothes day.

Ashlee on Mix and Match your clothes day. Ashlee didn't know when to stop putting on clothes. She kept adding more and more to her wardrobe.

This week in honor of Dr. Seuss week. The kids got to participate in something different each day at school. Monday was hat day. Tuesday was crazy socks day. Wednesday was dress like friend- be a twin day. Thursday was Mix and Match your clothes day. Friday was spirit day. Unfortunately I didn't get pictures of the girls everyday. But I did get pictures a couple of days.
