End of Swim Season Awards Party

Tuesday the girls had their end of their Swim Party/Awards Ceremony. I'm really bummed that I didn't get to go to it. I had surgery that day and was in the hospital. John and my mom attended. I asked John to take pictures and remember what was said about the girls. They started the party with swimming and diving for change. They put money in the pool and the kids got to dive for change. Then they had pizza and an awards ceremony.

This is the kids diving for change. A week before this, their team lost a 7 year old boy to an accidental death. The girls donated their change to the family who lost their child. The team was accepting donations for the family to have a funeral for the little boy.

The Awards Ceremony. Ashlee and Mikayla both got trophies with their names on them. Ashlee also received and award for Most Improved Swimmer.

Mikayla is the first one sitting down. Starting on the left.

The 6 and under swimmers.

The 9-10 year old swimmers. Ashlee is on the top row, fourth one in from the left.

The girls both seemed to enjoy swimming. I think it is something we may do again next year. Today I received a text message from the coach, thanking us for letting him have the opportunity to teach the girls. He said "Triple A (that's Ashlee's nickname since her intials are AAA and he says she is like a duracell battery) is getting better all the time and Mikayla is Scary Fast. He wanted to thank us for the long hours required to be on the swim team and hopes they return next year. I thought that was nice. That out of over a hundred kids, he took the time to send us a little message.

Fair

Last night we went to the fair to see what awards the girls received for their projects they entered in the fair. They got 1st place for everything they entered. Mikayla even received a Best of Show.

Ashlee's Solar System Project.

Ashlee's "Picaso Drawing"

Mikayla's "Country Cottage"

Mikayla's Tear Art Picture received Best of Show

This year the fair didn't put the cakes in the refrigerator for some reason. Needlesss to say this is day 5 without refrigeration and they still have 7 more days to go. I don't think they are going to make it. The building is hot too.
This is Mikayla's Lady Bug Cake.

Ashlee's Pumpkin Cake

The Rain Forest Exhibit

The hospital had a model of the human heart that you could walk through. These signs were outside the heart. The girls thought they needed to have their pictures taken with these signs.

Clydesdale Horses

The petting zoo which seemed to only consist of goats while we were there. Maybe because it was so hot. As you can see, John is cooling off by the fan in the background.

We never let the kids ride the fair rides, because we don't think they are safe, and they are too expensive. But, Grandma bought them unlimited ride wrist bands this year, so we had to let them use them. They had fun.

Mikayla's First Swim Meet/Ashlee's 4th Meet

Ashlee

Mikayla

Mikayla holding her first place bracelet. As soon as you get first place in your heat they give you a bracelet. Monday she will get her ribbon.

Today Mikayla participated in her first swim meet. She got first place in her heat and 3rd place overall. She did the 25yard backstroke in 27.68 seconds. The second place swimmer swam it in 27.11 seconds. Mikayla was close to second place. Ashlee swam well too. Today was Ashlee's 4th meet. Each week she knocks off a lot in her time and gets better. She should've had 1st in the 100yard freestyle today, but a swimmer that shouldn't have been in her heat was placed in her heat. Way to go girls.

Fair Cakes

Today we went to my Mom's house so the kids could decorate their cakes for the fair. This year my brother's kids joined in on the fair fun.

Ashlee made a pumpkin cake.

Mikayla made a Ladybug cake.

Hailee did a Christmas Cake

Dylan did and Easter Egg.

Tomorrow morning we take the cakes to the fair to be judged. The kids all did a great job.
