Home Improvements

We spent most of our weekends in May working on the house.  John and Ashlee tore out all the plants in the front yard and took all the bark out of the flower beds.  John and I painted the trim white.  John replaced some areas on the house and patio that had dry rot.  The kids and I painted the repaired areas and we touched up areas on the stucco that had peeling paint.  Changed all the outside light fixtures.  Replaced the door going from the garage outside, put in new landscaping and bark, and had a painter paint our garage door and security doors.

We did all the work ourselves, with the exception of the garage door and security doors.  We figured by the time we rented a painter and tried to do it, we would be better off having a painter do it and suprisingly it wasn't that much.

I didn't get any good before pictures, but here is some of the progress.

The gutters were still stainless and most of the trim on the house was a bluish gray color that never got painted whenever the house was last painted.

Our garage door had three off white panels and one white panel before.  It was a real eye sore.
New plants and black bark

The security doors were off white.  We had them painted black to match the entry door color.  I really think security doors are ugly, but they are nice when you want to let a breeze thru, or to help slow an intruder down.  Ashlee made the wreaths.

It looks so much better than it did.  We had intentions of painting the whole house, but decided it was going to be too expensive, so we will have to wait until later.  Plus the house really needs to have the stucco redone.
