Volleyball

Mikayla loves to play volleyball it's her favorite sport and she is really good at it.  She has a very strong arm, sometime too strong of an arm.  She can wack that ball right over the net.  She was one of two 7th graders that made it on to the A/Varsity team.

Last year she was awarded the Most Valuable Player on the team.  This year they had a different coach.  The kind of coach that believes everyone makes the team and that everyone is winner.  So it was kind of a frustrating year for her.  She didn't get to play as much as she would have liked to, but when she did get to play she did great.

Horse Back Riding

Mikayla loves horses.  She has watched every horse show and movie on Netflix and would love to have a horse of her own someday.  Tonight for Mutual she got to go horse back riding and loved every minute of it.

Allergic Reaction

When I picked Mikayla up at school today she told me she had some bug bites that she got during PE today at school and that they were really itchy and bothering her.  Afterschool she goes to work with me for awhile until its time to go home so I didn't have time to look at her bites right away.  She kept saying they were bothering her, I left work early because she had an appointment in Modesto and once we got in the car she showed me her "bites"  long story short during the 30 minute drive these "bites" were rapidly spreading over her body.  I knew these were not bites and that something was going on.  As soon we left her appointment I took her to urgent care, they said she was having an allergic reaction, gave her a shot and prescribed some steroids.

We thought the shot and steroids would get things under control, but instead the rash from the reaction continued to spread and ended up lasting for several days.  Mikayla couldn't go to school for 2 days because the rash was so bad and she was so uncomfortable, when she returned to school she had to stay indoors because the doctors said the sun would aggrevated the rash.  She was absolutely miserable.  We hurt just looking at her.

The only thing we can figure out that may have been the cause of the reaction was perfume being used by the girls in the bathroom at school when they are changing out for PE.  The doctor said we won't really know what caused the reaction until it happens again under the same conditions.  Hopefully it never happens again.

I had to talk with the principal and PE teacher at school to get them to do something about the girls using perfume in the bathroom at school.  They both agreed that her reaction was serious and that the girls couldn't continue to use perfume in the bathrooms.  All of her teachers were notified as well, in case it happens again they know to seek help immediately.

Wedding

One of the girls McKayla, that use to babysit Ashlee and Mikayla when they were younger got married yesterday in the temple.  Today was her reception and she asked Ashlee and Mikayla to help take Polaroid pictures of every guest and help with gifts.  The girls did a great job and everyone loved their Lularoe dresses.  Our girls are growing up so fast.

Mikayla's First Day of 7th Grade

Mikayla started her first day of 7th grade today.  On the way to school this morning she said "179 more days to go." Can you sense her excitement?  She didn't get the teachers we requested, so I don't think she is too thrilled about school, it will be interesting to see how the school year turns out.

Ashlee's First Day of High school

It's hard to believe that Ashlee is already a Freshman.  Today she had her first day of seminary and her first day of high school.  The high school she is attending is huge.  2,500 plus students and really spread out.  She has lot's of walking to do through out her day.  Have a great year Ashlee.

Ashlee Sewing

Ashlee found a dress on Pinterest and decided she wanted to make one.  One dress turned into five dresses.  She made a dress for herself, Mikayla and I along with two for her cousins.   Three of the dresses she made in four hours.  Several people asked for her to make them dresses too, unfortunately school will be starting soon, so she will need to wait until she has a break from school.   She did a great job,  I am glad she knows how to sew and uses her talents.
