Halloween Activities

For Halloween we had several activities to go to.  Friday we had a trunk-or-treat/carnival at the girls school.  Mikayla was a nerd girl and Ashlee was an 80's girl.  Saturday night was our ward halloween trunk-or-treat.   Halloween day my brother and his kids came over and we ate pizza and took the kids trick-or- treating.  John had to work late so my brother and I took the kids trick- or- treating.  We went to a neighborhood not far from our house,  I could not believe how many people "bombarded" this neighborhood.  There were hundreds if not thousands of people.  Sometimes there would be like 20 kids waiting at a door.  It was insane.

My car for trunk-or-treat.  A big mouth.

Ashlee -80's girl, Hailee- 50's girl, Mikayla- nerd girl, Dylan- football player, Landon- Ninja.

Hero Day

This week is Red Ribbon aka Drug Free week at school.  Each day is a different dress up day.  Today was hero day.  Mikayla decided that farmers are her heros.  Ashlee decided that Aunt Hollie and all cancer survivors and fighters are her heros.  Yes, we took a different approach to hero day.  Instead of dressing up as superman, batman, or some other fictional character, they chose real life hero's.  So we went to Michaels and got supplies to make them their own hero shirts.  Here is what we did.

Mikayla spent the morning of hero day at home with acid reflux problems.  So I did not get a picture of her in her shirt.  She was able to get the reflux under control and go to school later on that day.  But I was in too much of a hurry to get her to school and get to work, so I did not get a picture.

Mikayla received an award today for being an outstanding student in Drama class.

Each month the girls school focuses on a different Life Skill and each month they select a student from each class that demonstrates that Life Skill.  Ashlee received a Life Skill Award for Organization.  She is always prepared, has what she needs and her notes and assignments are always organized.

Plant Cell Cake

Mikayla had an assignment to do a plant cell project.  She had to make a flip book with the parts of a plant cell along with descriptions of what each part does, and then make a model of a plant cell. Mikayla chose to make a cake for her model.  Here is her plant cell cake.

Soccer

Ashlee and Mikayla both decided they wanted to play soccer back in April when sign-ups began.  At that time, I thought it would be do-able.  Soccer starts in August and runs until mid November.  I knew it would be harvest time too and school would be starting back up;  but I figured John would be able to help out.  Well, I figured wrong.  John is not home in the evenings to help get them to practice.  His new job has him working long days.  So I am left getting both of them to soccer practice each week, all week.  They both practice two days a week, so we end up having soccer every day of the week except Sunday's and Monday's.  Both of them are enjoying it.  Mikayla's team is undefeated, her coach would like for her team to be a competitive team, but I am not sure we are going to do that.  Ashlee's team has won 2 out of 4 games.  They are getting better each week.

Big Tree's

Dan and Teresa invited us and Denver and Bree up to see their cabin, go to Church in Murphys,  and go on a picnic to Big Trees.  It was nice to get away from it all for the day and spend the day with family.
